- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪The doctor Pam Sykes and the nursing staff (to include the elderly woman that draws blood) have an amazing talent for what they do. However, they lack the bed side manner, and child appropriate techniques of doing things. Speaking about our family's experience for the past year, infant wellness visits, as a first time parent it was less then hoped for. The average wait on a good day is about 60 minutes in the waiting room. Then an additional 30 minutes waiting in a private room for the doctor or the nurse to see you. After the waiting for the amount of time, they then give you information that I believe they think is being helpful. Unfortunately, the way they present the information to you, it comes off as rude, and overbearing. It makes you feel as if you don't know what you are doing, how to do it, and are doing things wrong. The staff has their beliefs that their medical knowledge is better then anything. If you are raising your child or children with the thought that they guide you on the amount of juice to drink, food to eat, when to walk, when to talk, when to potty train, when to wean from breastfeeding or bottle then the advice they give you will make you feel like you are doing things wrong. If you have a very natural idea about how to bring your child or children up then you may not be happy with the way they treat you. Also when giving vaccinations to infants the nursing staff ALWAYS, pins the infants to the exam table. They tell the parent or parents to hold down their arms, head and chest why she will hold down their legs. I understand that infant feel pain and flintch away but there is a better way to administer the shots/vaccines. Pam Sykes and the nursing staff are very intelligent but if you want less medical and technology and more personal and care then my suggestion is to steer clear.
